Tokubei Echigoya (越後屋 徳兵衛 Echigoya Tokubei) was a corrupt businessman and an associate of Nasu. He was a son of Echigoya.
History[]
Like rest of the Echigoya family, Tokubei was a successful, corrupt businessman. He was the ringleader of a human trafficking operation, overseen by his bodyguard Tajima and had no regards from snatching girls from their families.
His actions brought in the attention of the Azuma Ninja and the Muzen. Depending on the character route, he was ultimately killed by either Onikage or the assassin Tesshu.
Rikimaru's route has him bribing Gohda's statesman Nasu to overlook the kidnappings. When Rikimaru arrives to deal with them, Tokubei yells for his guards. Once Nasu and the guards are killed, Tokubei admits that one of his accomplices is Hamada, his inside man within Gohda Castle.
Ayame's route shows that he also had an interest in rare items, as he possessed a rare jewel that, unbeknown to him, had strong ties to the Lords of Darkness. In the same route, this leads to his death at the hands of an unseen Onikage who claimed it for Tenrai's behalf.
Personality[]
Like other members of his family, he was a criminal, cowardly rat of a man who disliked getting his own hands dirty, instead leaving it to his subordinates. He also begged for mercy the instant he was cornered, which did him little good when it was time for him to pay for his crimes.
